Environmental Responsibility

Philosophy

Buru ensures that all of its activities meet or exceed industry best practice standards. The company is focused on minimising the environmental impact of its operations and on mitigating any risks that its operations entail. Buru’s activities are regulated and monitored by a number of Government agencies including the Department of Mines and Petroleum, Department of Water, and the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Western Australian Onshore Gas Code of Practice for Hydraulic Fracturing

Buru has been instrumental in the development and adoption of the Western Australian Onshore Gas Code of Practice for Hydraulic Fracturing to set industry standards for Western Australian onshore gas explorers.

The code, developed by Buru in conjunction with members of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association, provides a best-practice framework for the safe, responsible production of shale gas and tight gas for the State’s domestic market.

Buru will comply with the terms of the code in the event that it conducts any hydraulic fracturing.
